Personal Testimonials

Cary Johnson
Pelican Rapids, MN

My name is Cary Johnson. Our son in Minneapolis, Minnesota liked his Burgman 400 Maxi Scooter so well that he convinced his mother and me to get one. Here we were, nearing retirement, and considering the purchase of a maxi-scooter. Well, we decided to cash in some of our annuity money and used it to purchase, on e-bay, a Suzuki Burgman 400 maxi-scooter. We won the bid and since I had not ridden a motorcycle in 40 years, I decided to brush up on riding a bike by taking the Minnesota-approved motorcycle training course. I am glad I did. The next day I hopped on a bus here in Minnesota and went to San Antonio, Texas to drive the Suzuki Burgman 400 1,700 miles back to Pelican Rapids, MN. Most immediate friends thought I was crazy at my age. What a hoot that was! A great trip of a lifetime for this guy who was then 65 years old, and is now 67. The weather was great all the way home. My wife and I have since put on over 14,000 miles riding together.

One of the things we did not consider when purchasing our scooter was trailering, rather than riding it, to various locations. We just thought about riding it locally here in Minnesota. Well, that changed when we found out how much fun it was scootering around areas of the countryside that we had never considered visiting or touring while we were driving a in car.

We finally found this old, wooden trailer, refurbished it, and used it to haul two scooters on some of our trips. One trip was to Branson, MO and another was to Sedona, AZ. The trailer was good for hauling the scooters, but loading and unloading was difficult for my wife and me. Remember, we are in our mid 60's. You see, we own two timeshares, so we travel two weeks each year to very nice timeshare resorts where there is limited storage. How were we going to take our scooter with us and ride the scooter during the days rather than riding in our car? Our problem was that the storage space on our home property was limited and also parking at some timeshare resorts is limited. I already had a land-fill trailer and a 26' sailboat, so we didn't want another trailer that would take up so much space.

Well, we did some searching for a trailer that would meet our needs. It had to be a low- profile trailer, easy to load and unload , and hopefully towing it would not reduce the gas mileage of the car substantially. Also, we wanted to be able to quickly disassemble and store it.

Besides meeting that criteria, it had to be something simple to assemble when ready to ride, and easy to load without fear of falling off a larger trailer when loading or unloading.

We liked the “Trailer in a Bag” so well that we became a dealer. This trailer is really a single purpose trailer and meets the needs for people living in apartments with limited space, those who want to trailer the bike and then ride, anyone with limited storage space. and anyone who wants the ease of putting together (and taking apart) a trailer using only a few tools.

We have now trailered our Suzuki Burgman 400 to Arizona, Oregon and Branson, MO using our “Trailer in a Bag” while traveling at highway speeds and have never had a problem (below left). Our daughter, while trailering her Honda Shadow 600 motorcycle behind her 1994 Toyota Corolla 4-Dr Sedan (below right) averaged 29 mpg – while traveling through the Rocky Mountains. We have had lots inquiries about our trailer and have met many people while traveling which adds to the fun and adventures of traveling.

The Trailer in a Bag works well for scooters or motorcycles.

So, we would recommend that you consider “Trailer in a Bag” for your motorcycle and scootering travels.
